Pattingham and Patshull
The parish of Pattingham and Patshull is an attractive rural area situated in the South Staffordshire countryside approximately 8 miles from Wolverhampton and 10 miles from Bridgnorth. The parish is a made up of 2 villages, Pattingham and Burnhill Green. Pattingham has current population of 1713 with Burnhill Green having 141.(as at December 2007 electoral role)
In the past the village was nicknamed “the Damson Village” after the many damson trees that were grown in the area to produce vegetable dye used in the production of the old paper sugar bags.
Until recently the community was predominantly engaged in agriculture but now, like many rural villages in Staffordshire, it has become a dormitory village for commuters to the industrial West Midlands.
Pattingham village has a number of local shops including a family butcher, pharmacy, hair salon, men’s and ladies outfitters, flower shop and general store, which incorporates the Post Office.
There is a thriving drama group as well as a very popular village choir, the Chad singer.
Other facilities include the playing fields, football pitch with changing rooms, tennis courts, children’s play area, skate park, St. Chad’s First School with Nursery, Village playgroup, St. Chad’s Parish Church and also two pubs.
